CLP is the new European Regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging of chemical substances and mixtures.

The CLP Regulation stands for Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, amending and repealing directives 67/548/EEC (Dangerous Substances Directive, DSD) and 1999/45/EC, (Dangerous Preparations Directive, DPD) and amending Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH). The legislation introduces throughout the EU a new system for classifying and labelling chemicals, based on the United Nations’ Globally Harmonised System (UN GHS). It came into force on 20 January 2009 and applies across the European Union.

Harmonised classifications (Annex VI): Database that contains basic classification and labelling information on notified and registered substances. Substances subject to registration under REACH and placed on the market. Substances classified as hazardous under CLP and placed on the market, irrespective of the tonnage. Substances classified as hazardous under CLP and present in a mixture above the concentration limits specified in Annex I of CLP or as specified in DPD, which results in the classification of the mixture as hazardous, and the mixture is placed on the market.
